The CLASSROOMPlus grant program can help you help
your child!
(For grades 3 - 6)

The Uniontown Area School District is committed to Educational Excellence and to the academic success of its students. To achieve that end, we want to make you aware of a new program available to students who are having difficulty in math and/or reading.

CLASSROOMPLUS is a Pennsylvania Dept of Education sponsored program aimed at getting children the extra help they need early enough to make a difference. ClassroomPlus provides grants of up to $500 to parents to purchase after-school tutoring and instruction for eligible children.
ClassroomPlus offers direct grants to the parents of children in grades three through six, who in the fifth grade score at the “basic” or “below basic” performance level on the PSSA tests, or who in the third or fourth grades score in the bottom half on other nationally recognized standardized tests approved by the PA Dept of Education. Eligible children must be residents of Pennsylvania and enrolled in the third, fourth, fifth or sixth grade in a public, private or non-public school.
We are encouraging parents of eligible children to take advantage of the ClassroomPlus grant and to seek extra help for their children. The Dept of Education will provide you with a list of approved providers of tutoring. The Uniontown Area School District is an approved provider. We encourage you to use the services of the Uniontown Area School District. If you choose our services, your child’s principal can help you to make arrangements.
To obtain a ClassroomPlus grant, call the ClassroomPlus Hotline @ 800-219-9740 and request an application be mailed to you. For more information, visit
www.essp.org (Pennsylvania’s Education Support Services Programs webpage), PA’s state website: www.state.pa.us, PA keyword “tutoring grants” or call your child’s principal.
